In 2019, HC Ambri-Piotta was invited to the Spengler Cup for the first time. The appointment was no coincidence. Ambri had been a preferred candidate for the organizers for years but there were concerns about the sport’s competitiveness. “Ambri must first reach the play-offs,” said Gaudenz Domenig, President of HC Davos.
