The Radeon PRO W7000 series cards are intended for professional workstations. They embed specific technologies such as AMD Remote Workstation or AMD Radeon VR Ready Creator, and benefit from numerous certifications guaranteeing their proper functioning with professional CAD, physical calculation or digital content creation software.
The two new references complement two other cards introduced a few months ago. The four current models are based on the RDNA 3 GPU architecture which brings power and stability. These next-generation computing units accelerate raytracing and AI-related processing with new instructions presented as twice as efficient as the RDNA 2 architecture. We find the second generation of AMD Infinity Cache technology. DisplayPort 2.1 video output takes advantage of the AMD Radiance Display Engine to support 12-bit HDR color and over 68 billion colors.
A real range
The W7500 is the current entry ticket to the W7000 series. There are 1700 stream processors and 28 calculation units for a total of 13.3 billion transistors. AMD announces FP16 Peak Single Precision Matrix performance of 24.4 TFLOPS and 12.2 TFLOPS in FP32 Peak Single Precision Matrix. The card embeds 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 128-bit interface and a memory bandwidth of 172 GB/s.
Its big sister goes further with 32 calculation units and 2440 streams. The number of transistors increases to 31.1 billion. The announced performances increase to 40 TFLOPS in FP16 in maximum half-precision and to 20 TFLOPS in FP32 Peak Single Precision Matrix. The memory subsystem is taken over, however with a bandwidth that can reach 288 GB/s. AMD recommends a power supply of 450 and 500 W respectively.
Both cards, like the W7800, are 6Nm engraved, with only the W7900 featuring 5Nm engraving. They should be available in Q3 for $429 and $599.
