Nothing revolutionary, but a “real life” photo of the processor is always more pleasant than a simple 3D rendering.

AMD itself has confirmed it, on August 30, it will officially present its new range of Ryzen 7000 processors. In the meantime, here is a little “illustrated” taste.

Socket AM5 LGA1718

Indeed, our colleagues from WCCFTech have spotted a leak concerning the photo of a real Ryzen 7 7700X which allows in particular to verify the design of the integrated heat spreader (IHS), this plate which ensures the dissipation of the heat of the processor.

On the other hand, it is only a question of one side of the processor, so we cannot see the 1,718 pins that make up the new socket implemented by AMD for this new generation. Called AM5, it follows the AM4 on which the company has not completely drawn a line.

The AM5 will concern AMD’s most modern processor releases, but the American group has already stressed on several occasions that it was considering other launches in AM4 to continue to bring the platform to life.

In “exchange” for the 7800X?

Note that the Ryzen 7 7700X pictured today is only the third most powerful of the new range, after the Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 7900X. On the other hand, it will be the beefiest of the Ryzen 7, since AMD does not seem decided to leave Ryzen 7 7800X.

A situation contrary to what the firm had done when the Ryzen 5000s were released. There, it was the Ryzen 7 5800X that had initiated the first burst of CPUs, and the Ryzen 7 5700X did not arrive until much later, around a year and a half after the first models.

Today, the situation is different, and several observers believe that if AMD does not yet offer a Ryzen 7 7800X, it may be that it is directly considering the release of a Ryzen 7 7800X3D equipped with the famous 3D technology. Vertical Cache technology (3D V-cache).
