On the new side processor at AMD? Finally, in this case we should rather say: on the old processor side at AMD?

Without doubt the most surprising information of the day for everything related to processors. Indeed, while AMD seemed busy with the launch of the Ryzen 7040U series, here it is reviving an “old man”.

The information has not yet been officially confirmed by AMD, but a report from the site Board Channels and quoted by our colleagues from Videocardz evokes the return to production of the small Ryzen 3000G APUs.

Launched in 2019, the range had only known two models, the Ryzen 3 3200G and Ryzen 5 3400G. Models which, like all the “G” series, combined CPU cores and GPU cores to achieve what are called APUs, a chip capable of doing everything, without needing to be associated with a card dedicated graph.

In the case of the Ryzen 3000G, the CPU part consisted of four Zen+ cores engraved in 12 nm with support for the SMT function on the 3400G (thus 8 threads) when the 3200G was limited to 4 threads.

…and Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics

The graphics aspect of the chips was entrusted to Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics computing units. For the 3400G, it was a question of a boost frequency of maximum 4.2 GHz while the 3200G had to be satisfied with 4 GHz.

So many elements which, inevitably, give a somewhat old-fashioned appearance to these chips which have nevertheless rendered good and loyal service. To believe Board Channelsthe company will therefore put them back into circulation: we are talking about the production of 30,000 chips to be associated with inexpensive motherboards based on the B450M chipset.

While AMD then devoted itself to the Ryzen 4000G then 5000G, the story does not say if it is a question of responding to a precise order or if AMD plans to reproduce this surprising operation.
