The little brother of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, the 7800X3D seems, on paper at least, to have everything to become the most popular of processors Ryzen 7000.
As a prelude to CES 2023 in Las Vegas, AMD surprised everyone. While we expected to see the Ryzen 7 7800X3D tumble, it was the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D that arrived first.
A release on April 6th
Launched at the beginning of March, the 7950X3D and 7900X3D performed well as expected, in particular thanks to their gargantuan combined cache of 144 and 140 MB respectively.
For the 7800X3D, AMD spared the suspense and only recently confirmed the release date of its third thief. It will therefore be marketed from April 6, but as often in this kind of situation, it has already been seen on certain results bases.
In this case, it is the bases of SiSoftware who have “sold the wick”. We were thus able to discover the first references of this processor as well as some preliminary results.
37.3% better than the 5800X3D
Compared to its big brothers, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is distinguished by the presence of a single CCD with 8 cores to which AMD has associated its famous 3D Vertical Cache technology.
Based on SiSoftware, we realize that the formula seems to be paying off, with performance up 37.3% compared to the one it will replace, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. It signs a result of 395.07 GOPS, which places it a hair above the Ryzen 7 7700, a position immediately more disappointing.
Let’s not forget that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will only be able to reach “only” 5 GHz, which makes it the Ryzen 7000 with the lowest operating frequency. It is also designed to shine more in video games and applications capable of exploiting this additional combined cache. At 449 dollars (launch price), there will be no room for error anyway.
