Notice to users of Windows and a Graphic card AMD, the old black screen bug with Enhanced Sync should finally be fixed.

Team Rouge has indeed deployed update 22.9.1 in beta for its Adrenalin graphics driver to correct this particularly annoying display problem.

Driver synchronization

As a reminder, Enhanced Sync aims to combine the benefits of FreeSync and vertical synchronization. Either minimize the screen tearing effect while reducing latency. But the combination of the two was obviously not to the liking of many screens, which tended to display an all-black image. A major concern that should now be relegated to the past.

AMD also shared a list of other known issues, which the team is working on for future fixes. We can cite pell-mell:

  • Blurred Oculus Quest 2 menu rendering on some cards, such as the Radeon RX 6800 XT;
  • A slightly corrupted display when switching from a game to a Windows window on the Radeon RX 6700 XT;
  • Significant slowdowns using hardware acceleration or disabling vertical refresh sync while watching video on Radeon RX 6000 series.

Also note that AMD’s capture and streaming software features for Clone Mode and Eyefinity are expected to roll out at a later date. Finally, 10-bit OpenGL applications will no longer be supported with HDR technology.

This driver update can be applied to desktop graphics cards RX 400 and newer as well as Ryzen APUs, Athlon Vega, or mobile models from Radeon 600 and RX 5000M to newer. To download it, go to the dedicated AMD page, cited in source below.
