Future processors
AMD’s Zen 4 will logically be accompanied by a new chipset, which could pose some problems.

For its tendency to keep its sockets across generations of processors, AMD has often been praised by users. The release of the Ryzen 5000 series was even an opportunity to keep the chipset – the X570 – from the previous range.

Put together two B650 chipsets

The arrival of processors in Zen 4 architecture should however push AMD to major upheavals. The socket AM4 will logically bow out and we are already starting to talk about the successor to this X570.

Known under the not very original name of “X670”, this new chipset could be manufactured by ASMedia through a partnership with AMD. We don’t know much else about it.

Our colleagues from TechPowerUp evoke the possibility of an MCM design (multi-chip module) for this high-end chipset which would then bring together two B650s, AMD’s future mid-range chipset.

Unofficially, such a design could result in a larger X670 chipset and would logically pose problems for manufacturers of Mini-ITX motherboards on which space is at a premium.
