AME: Gérard Larcher assures that Élisabeth Borne had committed to transforming it into emergency medical aid

Bruno Retailleau does not intend to give up. When he was a senator, the current Minister of the Interior advocated for a reform of AME, state medical aid, against the opinion of the left and part of Macronie, attached to this care system for illegal immigrants.

This Wednesday morning, the head of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, affirmed that the former Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, had indeed committed to transforming state medical aid into emergency medical aid. He is relying, for this, on a letter that the former tenant of Matignon had sent to him last December at the time of the vote on the immigration law.

Elisabeth Borne is crazy

Considering that the transformation of the AME was going to be censored by the Constitutional Council, because it was supposedly unrelated to the immigration law, Élisabeth Borne then committed to returning to this system in the following months. In any case, this is what Gérard Larcher understood, invited this Wednesday morning on France Inter. “Ms. Borne wrote to me to tell me that she was considering reforming state medical aid into emergency medical aid. So this is a matter already initiated by the two previous governments.”

These remarks provoked a reaction from the main person concerned, who denied having committed to such a transformation, with a photo of her letter to support her claim. In this letter, while the former Prime Minister cites a report stating that the system is “useful, generally under control” and that it is not “a factor in encouraging illegal immigration”, she nevertheless says she wants to initiate a reform of the AME.
