A true monument of French song, the performer ofTake me left behind a widow, Ulla, who is still struggling to recover from his disappearance, as well as six children. And of course, millions of grieving fans. But his greatest admirer will certainly remain Amel Bent. Guest on the set of C to you, Thursday January 21, 2021, the singer returned to her musical journey. Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine's team reminded him that during his first audition for The New Star – tele-hook which revealed it to the public in 2004 – she had interpreted Bohemian, mythical title of Charles Aznavour. And it's even "to meet him, and to be like him ” that Amel Bent got into the song !

“I really took him as a model, as my ultimate goal ”, explains the star in front of the cameras of France 5. And finally, his work paid off. Amel Bent was therefore able to meet Charles Aznavour, and not just anywhere: at the Elysée. But the young singer's reaction turned out to be rather unexpected … Upon discovering that it was indeed her idol in front of her eyes, she is "running away ” ! “I ran away, I hid behind a bush to call my mother”, says Amel Bent, hilarious, before continuing: “She thought something very serious was going on. And when I told her that I had just seen Charles for the first time, she said, But it's not okay, go back right now! ’”
For the interpreter of My philosophy, this meeting was particularly rich in emotions. As Amel Bent explains, “it is very impressive” to come face to face with a celebrity of this stature (this is also how Charles Aznavour's son-in-law felt!). “I grew up with his voice so it was a shock to me to see him for real. I almost saw him as somebody unreal ", specifies the singer. A truly day “surrealist" for the young woman, whose eyes still sparkle.
