They will resume on Monday, but several measures have already been validated, such as the abolition of the audiovisual license fee. Some projects of the majority have been able to move forward, others not. Each text, each amendment is a battle. Relative majority obliges, the camp of Emmanuel Macron must deal with the oppositions.
Find the compromises
Like the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, maneuvering to find a compromise on the issue of fuel prices with the Republicans. “The discount could go from 18 to 30 euro cents in September and October, then go to 10 cents in November and December. So with the discount that has been offered by Total and that of the government, you would have in some service stations in France a fuel at 1.50 €, which corresponds to the objective which was set by the Republicans”, recalled the Minister of the Economy.
The perfect illustration of the new balance of power playing out in the Assembly, sometimes with just a few votes. Thus, the establishment of a tax on superprofits was almost voted against the advice of the government. Only 18 votes apart. On this amendment, the presidential camp had to be supported by the LRs. But when this is not the case, it is a hiccup for LREM. The Assembly, for example, decided to allocate 120 million euros to the departments that pay the RSA to compensate for the 4% increase in social benefits.
Walkers, outvoted on this text against the vote of the Left Alliance, RN, LR but also, and this is more surprising, deputies from the Horizon group. There followed points of order, suspensions of the session. This is the spirit in which the debates are about to resume tomorrow afternoon.
