(Boursier.com) — No jealousy. American Airlines has just revealed a very large order for single-aisle aircraft from Boeing, Airbus and Embraer. In detail, the American company will purchase 85 B737MAX10s, 85 Airbus A321neos and 90 E175s. It also has options and purchasing rights on 193 additional devices. As part of the order placed with Boeing, AAL converted an existing order for 30 737 MAX 8s into 737 MAX 10s. This is also the first major agreement for Boeing and its 737 Max since the incident at the beginning year on an Alaska Airlines flight.

These agreements are part of American’s continued investment to grow and improve its regional fleet. Through these agreements, American secures valuable production slots in a limited market for new planes, with the two major aircraft manufacturers having largely sold their single-aisle planes until the end of the decade. The order will also allow American to replace some of its older, fuel-guzzling single-aisle planes with more efficient models with more premium seats.

“Over the past decade, we have invested heavily to modernize and simplify our fleet, which is the largest and youngest among U.S. operators,” said American CEO Robert Isom. “These orders will continue to fuel our fleet with newer, more efficient aircraft so we can continue to deliver the best network and record operational reliability to our customers.” With this announcement, American now has 440 aircraft on order.
