The American Music Awards wasn’t just about music. On the red carpet, fashion came to the fore. A star came incognito.
The stars in Los Angeles sprayed a lot of glamor on the red carpet of the American Music Awards on Sunday evening. One artist stood out in particular. Rapper Cardi B (29), who hosted the award ceremony, hid behind a gold mask from the Schiaparelli label that covered her entire face while the show was running before the event.
The rest of her outfit was also from Schiaparelli. Cardi B presented a black strapless dress with a tulle veil that stretched from her arms over her entire head. Other highlights of the look included oversized earrings – in the shape of an eye with fingers – and black gloves, underneath which long, red-gold nails emerged.
In the look of C-3PO
There were mixed reactions to the extravagant outfit on social media. Some users celebrated Cardi B as a fashion icon. There were also comments like: “I was scared at first, but I like the dress” and some jokes. “Seriously, C-3PO did it first,” commented one viewer of the singer’s gold mask look.
