Upstream of Computex, MSI and Mercedes-AMG announce a partnership that we did not necessarily see coming. The latter gives rise to a slightly revisited version of the Stealth 16: a gaming laptop unveiled for the first time at CES 2023.

The collaboration between MSI and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport stems from a shared commitment to offer products that are both luxurious and capable. “Explains MSI in its press release, as if to explain the link between two companies which at first glance have nothing to do with each other: on the one hand a Taiwanese computer giant, on the other a major figure in motorsport.

The Stealth 16 changes to the colors of AMG

The result of this collaboration, rather atypical in the laptop sector, is none other than a high-end gaming laptop PC revisited for the occasion: the MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. As MSI explains, this new model will be offered in a limited edition, understand manufactured in low volumes and marketed at a price probably raised. In its press release, MSI does not yet specify a price, but the Stealth 16 Studio, a “cousin” model launched at the start of the year, is trading in France between 3,000 and 4,000 euros depending on the configuration chosen.

For its AMG version, the device mixes magnesium and aluminum alloys to ” pay homage to the rugged Mercedes-AMG GT2 car “says MSI. It also features the AMG logo, as well as ” exclusive AMG designs », and finally has a color selenite gray a priori exclusive. MSI finally evokes a “ exclusive design cardboard box “, but also accessories supplied with the device (mouse, mouse pad, USB key, carrying pouch, postcards and cable ties) all in the colors of MSI and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.

A classic technical sheet for a high-end gamer

Under the hood, nothing very new, however. There is indeed a technical sheet focused on an Intel Core i9 processor and an RTX 4000 (we do not yet know the reference chosen for the French market). On the display side, however, MSI opts for the best with a 16-inch 4K OLED panel, in 16:10 format. At this stage, however, we do not know what the refresh rate of this screen will be.

Note that collaborations between tech brands and automotive giants were common a few years ago in the smartphone market. Oppo, for example, partnered with Lamborghini and OnePlus with McLaren. It remains to be seen whether the partnership signed between MSI and AMG will give rise to other devices in the colors of the German manufacturer than the Stealth 16.
