fun, news, tips… what else?

A big name in French music, Amir and his catchy rhythms have conquered the hearts of many. However, as surprising as it may seem, the singer indicated that he was deaf in the “Virage” podcast.

An exemplary journey. In 2006, Amir began his studies at the dental faculty in Jerusalem. At the same time, the young man stood out on the small screen by reaching the tele-hook final Kokhav Nolad, israeli version of The New Star. A few years later, it was in France that Lital’s husband met with a second success on television by participating in the 2013 edition of The Voice. After having passed the castings without problem, won over four coaches during his blind audition, the artist won third place tele-hook. The rest, many know it: Amir meets success with hits like Looks like or Celebration and dropped out in 2017 two music victoriesone for the “original song”, another for “the revelation album”. But what the general public knows less about the singer is that he is deaf.

On April 7, 2022, Amir spoke on the podcast Turn, a program imagined by Pauline Maria giving the floor to personalities who have taken an important turn on the personal, intimate or professional level. Little Mikhaël’s dad came back to it, among other things, on his particuliarity that he doesn’t have never seen as a brake on his ascent:Naturally, I never made the connection between my hearing problem and my relationship to music.” And to add: “Since I was born like that, for me, hearing with one ear is absolutely natural. While I understand most people have stereo, I don’t, I don’t even know what it sounds like. I don’t see that as a shortcoming.

“I learned to live with it”

In August 2018, Amir had already confided in his deafness in an interview granted to our colleagues from TV 7 Days. The interpreter of Retina awill then be assured of having learned to “live with this handicap”. More surprisingly, he even confessed that his difference was good daily : “It even helps me. I sleep better. And that doesn’t stop you from making music.” An advantage that he underlined again, some time later, in the columns of We both: “It probably made me more able to understand people with disabilities, more sensitive, because I feel concerned, even if it never had any consequences on my way of approaching life.” A nice example.
