(Boursier.com) — The producer of biological biocide Amoeba decided not to pursue the investigation of its live amoeba-based biocide file in Canada.
Given the high regulatory risk of this application, which mobilizes human and financial resources, Amoéba has decided to permanently withdraw the application file for approval in Canada. It will concentrate its resources on applications with low regulatory risk, mainly the biocontrol application which has received positive evaluations in Europe and the United States, and the biocide application in closed cooling towers in the United States.
Amoéba is also continuing its research and development of other uses of the amoeba, in its non-living lysed form, which presents a much lower regulatory risk than the living form, and therefore has a high chance of success.
