As expected, it was this Tuesday that the Spring 2022 Showcase of 505 Games. To begin its presentation, the publisher did not reveal any new games, but highlighted an already announced independent title, a certain Among the Trolls. Developed under Unity by Forbidden Studios in Finland, it isa survival game, action and adventure in first person, which will immerse us in a Finnish forest full of mysteriesusing local folklore as inspiration.
We will embody it at your choice Alex Where Anna, a 30-year-old main character living in the United States, but originally from Finland, visiting his grandparents in the country following the death of his parents, who live in a remote cabin in a forest accessible by boat crossing a lake. Except that when he arrives, a kind of giant fish will attack him and when he wakes up, he will find himself in the middle of the forest. In search of his grandparents, he will have to learn to survive in the middle of naturewith elements of Finnish/Norse mythology, supernatural creatures and an animistic world mixed with shamanic magic.
The basis of gameplay will therefore be survival, obviously with a whole part linked to the crafting, since it will be possible to build our own house. But we will not be able to plunder the resources of the forest impudently, it will also be necessary make offerings to cupstones so as not to offend the spirits and having to deal with corrupted creatures attacking us. More surprisingly, we can craft familiars, magical beings. We will also have three distinct attributes called Sisu (Courage), Väki (Magic) and Lykky (Chance).
A cooperative multiplayer dimension up to 4 will be present to share our creations with our friends and play the entire scenario with them. In total, 4 scripted chapters are already plannedthe first being included in theEarly Access and the sequel planned 6 months later. Different questlines will accompany each addition and we are already promised various activities such as fishing. As for the famous “Trolls” of the title, it will be NPCs and not enemies, linked to the story.
Among the Trolls will therefore come out Early Access on Steam from this year, without further details.
