Amy Schumer has a special request for the Oscars: she wants to connect Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyj live.

Oscar hostess Amy Schumer (40) would also like to draw attention to the Ukraine war at the presentation of the world’s most important film award on March 27th. On The Drew Barrymore Show the US comedian expressed the wish to have the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) take part in the ceremony virtually. “I suggested that. I wanted to put Zelenskyy on satellite or on a recording or something, because there are just so many people watching the Oscars,” Schumer explained.

What does the Academy say about this?

It is no problem for her to mix entertainment with politics for one evening. “I’m not afraid of it. But I’m not producing the Oscars,” says Schumer. She did not reveal how her plans were received by the Academy. It is a fine line to lead through an entertainment show in times of crisis like these. “There’s definitely pressure to do a ‘this is a break let people forget reality just for tonight’ show,” she explains.

The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27 in Los Angeles. In addition to Schumer, Regina Hall (51) and Wanda Sykes (58) will also serve as hosts.
