On March 12, Adidas unveiled on Instagram a new sportswear collection signed by famous fashion designer Stella McCartney. The muse of this new line is called Leila Davis. The professional pole dance dancer and choreographer poses with her arms in the air, proudly displaying her hairy armpits. A natural image that has been criticized by many Internet users, but defended by both the brand and its muse. “They wouldn’t if it was a man, and the level of anger they have at me is definitely because I’m black. It drives them crazy that this big brand gave me a stepping stone, to me and my armpit hair ” expressed the young woman.

Adidas shares the same opinion. “At Adidas, we believe that through sport we have the power to change lives. (…) And use the transformative power of sport for the good is at the heart of what we do, whether with our partners, through our products, our actions or the imagery we transmit to the world. Sport belongs to everyone and we strive to meet the needs of all athletes – and to represent them. ” In 2019, the brand Nike had also chosen to promote her new sports bras with a photo of singer and model Annahstasia, who also displayed her armpits naturally. Steps that will probably change mentalities!
