An air of freedom

The path stretched out in front of his feet. The dark earth made the green of the pines even more shimmering. The fresh air moistened her face and her lungs filled with the air deliciously perfumed with the scents of this deep forest, freedom. She felt a smile on her lips and an irremediable urge to run made her steps faster and faster. Her hair flew behind her, and the air hissed in her ears with a sweet melody. Nature began to dance before his eyes. In a few strides, she had arrived in front of a huge lake of hypnotic blue. The water was so clear it was almost unreal. The overcast sky seemed to be filled with white cotton and contrasted with the little purple flowers that surrounded the lake, like dancers, swaying in the breeze. Huge boulders of gray stones surrounded the water, covered with emerald moss and giving them a royal air. In the distance, great mountains covered with snow tore the sky, terrible, and overhung the endless forests. She wouldn't have liked to be anywhere else in the world. She wouldn't have liked to have left that sight in her whole life.
She closed her eyes. On the left, she heard a small waterfall where the stream joined the body of water. In front of her, the wind came to caress her face and her hair. She sat down on the soft grass and rested her hands flat on her knees, feeling the softness of the fabric brush her skin.
Suddenly the door swung open and someone entered the room. She opened her eyes.
– But grandma what are you doing? You left the faucet on again! And you'll catch a cold opening the window wide!
The old woman watched, looking disappointed, as the young man walked up to the bathroom adjoining his bedroom, turning on the tap until the water stopped flowing. Then he walked past her, barely closing the window. Immediately, the caress of the wind flew away. He turned in her direction and put his hands on her hips, gazing at her for a long time, sitting on her large shag rug in her silk pajamas. He leaned down, lifted her whole little body, and put her back on the bed.
– You have to stay a little quiet.
"I won't get very far anyway, I'm in prison," she said sulkily.
– I know you don't like this retirement home, but it's for your own good!
He readjusted the frame which represented a large blue lake surrounded by tall evergreens, kissed it on the forehead and left the room.
