What is it about ?

“A group of long-time friends meet at Max and Lucie’s to celebrate her 45th birthday. On arriving, the three guests discover Max kneeling in front of the body of his murdered wife. He is certain that the the police are going to charge him.

Who is it with?

Un alibi is a TV movie directed by Orso Miret and written by Emmanuel Mauro and Laurent Roggero. Pascal Demolon (Face à face, The Adventures of Young Voltaire) embodies Max, the a priori obvious culprit of the crime.

Annelise Hesme (Nina, Week-end Family) plays Maude and Michaël Cohen (Gloria, Peur sur le lac) plays Cédric, her new boyfriend. Yannick Choirat (The World of Tomorrow, Les Combattantes) lends his features to Tom and Grégori Derangère (Black Box) slips into the skin of Pierre.

Finally, Sara Martins (Alexandre Ehle, I promise you) is Lucie, the unfortunate victim, and Aurélia Petit (Osmosis, The Little Murders of Agatha Christie) becomes Lieutenant Garnier.

Well worth a look ?

At the beginning of An Alibi, everything seems to be going well within this friendly group of friends… until tragedy strikes the gang. Lucie is found dead in the arms of Max, her husband, by Maude, Tom and Pierre. All are upset but the crucial question that burns everyone’s lips is “Who is guilty ?“.

Quickly, the accomplices realize that the suspicions of the police for this assassination will necessarily fall on the husband, that is to say their good friend Max… However, for them, there is no possible doubt: the latter couldn’t kill the mother of his children. From then on, they decide to lie to the authorities, inventing that Max was with them at the time of the murder and that the four of them found Lucie’s body.

But Lieutenant Garnier, who is in charge of the investigation, is quick to question this version of the facts. As his investigation progresses, Max’s fault for this terrible death becomes more and more obvious to him…

To solve this mystery, she does not hesitate to distill some information to the protagonists of this case until suspicion takes hold of them. Max and Lucie’s couple weren’t going so well before the tragedy and there are indications that she might have had a lover… What if their great pal had finally lost control to the point of committing irreparable harm?

The actors of Un alibi are convincing in their roles as relatives overwhelmed by events, starting with Pascal Demolon and Annelise Hesme. These who brilliantly embody these desperate people following the death of Lucie. Aurélia Petit also pulls out of the game as a meticulous cop, determined to find out the truth.

Initially, everything suggests that it is indeed a plot featuring a feminicide perpetrated by the spouse of the victim, as we unfortunately see frequently in the news. However, the telefilm offers a frame which breaks the first certainties of the public.

This dramatic fiction also leaves viewers wondering how far they would go to protect a loved one. However, even if it manages to surprise us at the time of its resolution, this fiction often lacks rhythm and scope. We are not completely bored but we will not necessarily remember it either.
