Series The Witcher by Netflix is one of the platform’s biggest hits in recent years. The adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s work conquered the public with its first two seasons. And this despite the few scriptwriting liberties taken by the series. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting Season 3. The first part will air on June 29 and the second a few weeks later on July 27. Even before its broadcast, the streaming giant is making a new announcement that should amuse and even dismay those who swear by Henry Cavill.
Season 5 of The Witcher with Liam Hemsworth formalized
In an interview with Deadline, Sophie Holland talks about season 4 of The Witcher where Liam Hemsworth will therefore replace Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt de Riv. News that fans seem to have trouble digesting since its announcement. The casting director shares information that should frustrate them even more: a season 5 of the series will see the light of day, even though the fourth part has not started filming.

The doubt hovered, but Netflix will maintain its program. The streaming giant planned from the start to shoot the two seasons without Henry Cavill in a row, but with the writers’ strike which put many programs on hold, its strategy was rather uncertain. Hemsworth’s detractors did not hide their desire to see the series end as quickly as possible. The announcement is, as you can imagine, quite badly received on their part. With this schedule, the streaming giant is probably trying to limit the risks. With two seasons shot in advance, the program could continue for a few more years even if the success is not there. The series could however have ended as soon as Henry Cavill left, as the showrunner indicated a few days ago.
A season 3 even more viewed than the first two?
Sophie Holland refuses to talk about the departure of Henry Cavill in her interview, even if she indicates that she would like to. She prefers to praise Liam Hemsworth and says she is impatient to see what he will bring to the series, while recalling that he has a large number of fans. “The fourth season will be a good mix of new characters and returning faces”, says Sophie Holland. There is no doubt that viewers who swear by Henry Cavill should make the most of season 3 before the passing of witnesses between the two stars. Maybe Netflix will break new audience records, even if the challenge looks tough.
