An era is coming to an end – Pinzgau’s first mayor is quitting

After 20 years she has had enough: Stuhlfelden’s mayor Sonja Ottenbacher announced that she no longer wants to run in the next mayoral elections.

Sonja Ottenbacher has been active in Stuhlfelden municipal politics for more than 25 years. First as deputy mayor for five years, and from 2004 as mayor of her home community. This made her a pioneer, as Ottenbacher was the first woman to head a Pinzgau municipality at the time. On Friday, the 63-year-old ÖVP politician announced that the current term of office would be her last. “You should stop at the peak. I carried out the office of mayor with great joy, passion and conviction. Our beautiful home community of Stuhlfelden will continue to be in good hands,” explained Ottenbacher. A decision on her successor should be made “soon”.
