“An excellent script”: the best returning heist saga with its 4-star cast?

After the prequel with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the robbers of the “Ocean’s 11” saga, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon could well return for a fourth opus!

While filming of the prequel to the Ocean’s 11 saga with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling should begin soon, George Clooney, who played Danny Ocean in the 2000s trilogy, reveals that a fourth film with his band of robbers could see the day.

A surprising announcement since in 2007, during the promotion of Ocean’s 13, the director of the saga Steven Soderbergh stated that he was done with the franchise. During the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, Steven Soderbergh declared: “If you ask Jerry (Weintraub, the producer), he will tell you that there will be about twenty other films. But we’re going to have to pass the torch to the next generation, because, very soon, we’ll need colostomy bags and wheelchairs“.

And that’s perhaps ultimately how Ocean’s 14 will continue if we are to believe George Clooney…

The script for Ocean’s 14 is ready

In an interview given to Uproxxto promote his new film as director, The Boys in the Boat, George Clooney claims that the script for Ocean’s 14 is written: “We have a script for another Ocean’s movie, so we might finally do that. Especially since it’s actually a great script.”

When the American media contacted the actor and asked him if this film would be Ocean’s 14, the latter added: “Well… I don’t want to call it that… Because the story is closer to that of the movie Going In Style.

George Clooney, however, does not specify whether Steven Soderbergh will be involved in the feature film.

Released in 1979, Going in Style by Martin Brest saw 3 retirees planning a bank robbery. This film was also entitled to a remake in 2017 by Zach Braff and carried by Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin and Michael Caine.

The 5th film in the saga – if we take into account the female spin-off Ocean’s 8 with Sandra Bullock in the role of Debbie Ocean, Danny’s sister, could therefore this time be the last heist of George Clooney (62 years old ), Matt Damon (53 years old), Brad Pitt (59 years old), Don Cheadle (59 years old) and Casey Affleck (48 years old).

And that of the prequel with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling too…

In four films, the saga grossed $1.4 billion at the international box office. A prequel, simply titled Oceans, should also see the light of day. Directed by Jay Roach, the feature film takes place in the 1960s in Monte Carlo and should tell the story of the parents of Danny and Debbie played by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Asked by Variety on this project during the premiere of his new film, George Clooney joked: “Is Margot Robbie my mother? I always thought that. And Ryan Gosling is my dad. When you think about it, it makes sense.”
