HOUSTON, May 23 (Reuters) – The Atlantic Ocean hurricane season, which theoretically begins June 1, is expected to be “extraordinary” this year, the director of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Observation Administration said on Thursday .
The combined effect of rising sea temperatures and the phenomenon of wind shear – when a wind changes suddenly – should cause more storms of great intensity, explained Rick Spinrad.
