fun, news, tips… what else?

This Thursday, February 17, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, garbage collectors miraculously saved an infant and his parents from a burning apartment.

The consequences could have been dramatic. This Thursday, February 17, in the morning, the explosion of an electric scooter battery ignited an entire studio in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, in the Val-de-Marne department. Inside, a family was sleeping peacefully. The couple, burned to 40%, were hospitalized in emergency, explains the Parisian. Fortunately, their newborn was only hit in the hands, thanks to the heroic rescue of the garbage collectors. According to Sylvain Berrios, the mayor of the city, two other people were intoxicated by the fumes and two others still slightly injured.

But things could have gone differently without the express intervention of garbage collectors from Paris Est Marne et Bois. As they started their usual tour around 6:30 a.m., the latter reported having suddenly heard a violent detonation. Soon, very large flames began to appear.

A hypothesis to check

After contacting the firefighters, the garbage collectors rushed to the burning building to try to help the victims. They then discovered a father trying to protect his baby from the violence of the flames. By climbing a low wall, one of the garbage collectors managed to catch the infant, before helping the parents to get out of the fire. For their part, his colleagues rushed to alert the inhabitants, helping them to evacuate the building. When the firefighters arrived, there was only one elderly person left on the top floor.

If the explosion of the battery of a scooter is the cause of this incident, specialists should however soon verify this hypothesis.
