“An obvious disappointment”, this radical decision which has just been announced

While Sébastien Cauet is the target of five complaints for rape and sexual assault, the host is not about to return to the air, from which he has been absent for more than 5 months now. And this Tuesday, May 7, 2024, The Parisian tells us that the Paris commercial court validated this decision in “dismissing the host in the face of radio management”.

“It is an obvious disappointment for the company Be Aware (Cauet’s production company) and we are obviously considering appealing against this decision which authorizes the lapse of contracts in the face of a media storm”, reacted Me Frédéric Lamoureux, Cauet’s lawyer, to the Parisian.

Sébastien Cauet will not be able to return to NRJ

Because as a reminder, when the scandal broke and a preliminary investigation for “rape of a minor over 15 years old and rape” was opened, on November 22, the host had been removed from the radio. But this decision was indicated as resulting “by mutual agreement”. However, Sébastien Cauet had since requested a return to the airwaves, which was therefore denied. As a result, on March 18, a hearing was held at the Paris commercial court. Sébastien Cauet demanded his return to radio by asking that his contract with the station and its production company be executed, so that his show C’Cauet be broadcast again, as has been the case since 2010, despite a one-year break, between 2017 and 2018.

Then, the host made it known through his lawyer that in the event of the station’s refusal for his return to the air, he would ask that the court recognize a breach of contract with NRJ, which would allow him to touch compensation. Whatever happens, Cauet is therefore not likely to return to NRJ. For his part, the host proclaims his innocence. He also filed a complaint for “attempted extortion by an organized gang, slanderous denunciation, forgery and uses against unnamed persons”, with the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.

Cauet targeted by 5 complaints

Last November, Julie, a 25-year-old young woman, filed a complaint against Cauet, whom she accuses of rape. The alleged victim relates events which allegedly took place in 2014 when she was 15 years old and then a second time in 2023 when she was 24 years old. The facilitator is targeted by 5 complaints in total.

The host denounces a conspiracy and regrets that the presumption of innocence is not respected. “You put people who decide out of jealousy, out of greed, to have money to set up a conspiracy and give false testimony and you get what is happening to me today”he declared.
