an official design and less obscure specifications

Expected in the next few hours in China, the Moto X40 is revealed today through a first official visual. The specifications of the device are also partly confirmed.

12:30 p.m. in France, 7:30 p.m. in China. That’s when Motorola will unveil its new Moto X40 today. The device, whose Pro version had already been the subject of an article on Frandroid, is now taking shape in a slightly more official way through a first visual shared on Weibo by Motorola. The brand also took the opportunity to confirm a (small) part of the supposed specifications of its next flagship.

We now know that the machine will be available in blue and black. Its design, rather classic, will be based in particular on a rectangular protrusion, installed on the back of the mobile, and housing a triple photo sensor as well as a flash. As remarked GizmoChinathe edges of the screen will also be slightly curved in order to best match the shape of the chassis.

Some specifications confirmed… the others strongly anticipated

The Moto X40 (which risks adopting the name Motorola Edge 40 if released in France), will have a 165 Hz screen, confirmed Motorola, still on Weibo. The brand also indicated that the device would be IP68 certified (protection against water and dust), that its back would benefit from a color approved by Pantone, and that there would be Android 13, supported in this case by the MYUI 5.0 software overlay.

While waiting for the official presentation of the Moto X40, the rest of its technical characteristics are still to be taken with a grain of salt. It should anyway sport a 6.67-inch Full HD + Amoled screen supporting the HDR10 + standard.

Beneath this screen would be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, while the whole thing would be powered by a 4600 mAh or 5000 mAh battery, rechargeable via 125 W fast charging, or 68 W.

The photo part would focus on a 50 Mpx main sensor, a 50 Mpx ultra wide-angle module too, and a x2 zoom mounted on a 12 Mpx sensor. Previous leaks had finally directed us to a 5G product, Bluetooth 5.3 compatible, 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.5 mm for 196 grams.
