For Le Point, Emmanuel Macron mentioned a particular subject: his relationship to death. Thus, the Head of State returned to the way in which his function as President changed his vision of the end of life.
Emmanuel Macron confided in a very particular subject this Tuesday, April 12, 2022, during an interview for the newspaper Point. Indeed, the qualified candidate for the second round of the presidential election mentioned his relationship to deathhe who unfortunately faces the risk of assassination due to his status as president: “De Gaulle was right. You have to protect the function, but at the same time you have to expose the man”he begins by evoking, referring to the attempted murder on his person, in November 2018 during the ceremony of the centenary of the end of the First World War.
“Were you afraid for yourself?”, asks the journalist. “No, not physically. I’ve seen uninhibited violence many times, but I don’t have that relationship to fear. At death, yes, it is an old companion. But fear, no. I think about it, of course, more and more, even, it’s physiological! This is Montaigne’s journey… But the relationship to death, in recent years, I have had it above all as commander of the armies”, said Emmanuel Macron. Indeed, being head of the armies, the President of the Republic is confronted with the death of certain soldiers.
Emmanuel Macron: “We change our relationship to death in this function because we live it”
Brigitte Macron’s husband thus mentioned how being President changed his view of death: “We change our relationship to death in this function because we live it, we see it, with terrorism in particular. We frequent it. But of course, there is the responsibility of sending soldiers in special operations”. Confidences which obviously echo the conflict between Ukraine and Russia since February 24.
