An open-world Iron Man game was planned by the studio behind Just Cause, but was canceled

Lately, games Marvel are on the rise and we are even preparing to have a conference dedicated to these games as well as to other Disney licenses. But a few years ago, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe was laying its foundations, many Marvel games were shelved. We think first of the game avengers in first person view developed by THQ, and we now learn thatan Iron Man game was also in the works in the early 2010s at Avalanche Studios.

Iron Man Just Cause way, shall we sign?

In the middle of an interview on the Minnmax channel, Christofer Sundbergfounder of Avalanche Studios, to whom we owe the series JustCausedropped some indiscretions.

He revealed that an open-world Iron Man game was in the works at the studio, with development taking two years but being canceled for unknown reasons in 2012.. The game would have allowed us to fly freely with Iron Man, and even knock enemies through walls using Tony Stark’s gear.

We can actually imagine that the gameplay of JustCause could easily have been transposed into an Iron Man game, but we will never see the result. Christofer Sundberg simply states that many people were involved in this project, with talented personalities, without giving specific names.

The latest Iron Man games haven’t really been hits, like Sega’s in 2008, and Marvel’s Iron Man VR remains altogether anecdotal (not to mention the fact that Iron Man is far from being the most manageable character in Marvel’s Avengers). But if you’re a fan of Stark and his armor, rest assured, another Iron Man project seems to be in the works at Electronic Arts right now, even if it is still only at the stage of rumor.
