An outage affects Sony’s PlayStation Network

The PlayStation Network network is experiencing operational issues on March 23. Several services are down.

The PlayStation Network (PSN) is facing significant disruption this Wednesday, March 23. Several services dependent on the Sony platform – such as online gaming with the PlayStation 5 – have failed since this morning, according to reports from Internet users on the DownDetector site, a reference for monitoring the operating status of services.

PlayStation Network partially down

Confirmation of an outage on PSN came from Sony, with its dashboard used to check the health of the service. Are affected: online play, purchases in the store, functions for social networks and the PlayStation Now subscription formula (which provides access to a catalog of streaming video games).

Several services are down on the PSN.

The problem, whose cause is not yet identified at this stage, does not seem to affect players in the same way. Thus, a journalist from Numerama was able to connect without encountering any particular problem. But on Twitter, there are many testimonies to evoke a “PSNDown”.

Players using older generation consoles from Sony (PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita) and via the PSN web service may also have the same problems. The only good news: the account management tools are marked as operational, as are the PlayStation Video platform and PlayStation Direct.

The reports exploded this Wednesday, March 23.

Sign of the weight of the PlayStation Network in the world of video games and the place taken by online games, the problems encountered by the network indirectly affect very popular video games: GTA 5, Fifa, Rainbow Six, call of duty, destiny, Battlefield, Fall Guys, NBA 2K and Red Dead Redemption are some of the titles coming up strongly in DownDetector.
