An overview – floods, mudslides: many roadblocks in Tyrol


Due to the persistent rain during the night on Saturday and Sunday, numerous roads in Tyrol had to be closed due to mudslides, among other things.

As of Sunday morning (7.45 a.m.) the following traffic connections were affected (source: ÖAMTC traffic service):

  • B171 Tiroler Strasse: Closed in both directions between L208 in Kirchbichl and Schwoich, closed to all traffic due to mudslides at km 1.5.
  • B177 Seefelder Strasse: Closed in both directions at the Scharnitz border crossing. Due to a mudslide at the Scharnitz border crossing, the road is closed to all traffic.
  • B179 Fernpassstraße: Closed between Heiterwang-Nord and Heiterwang-Süd, a detour has been set up, closed due to mudsling.
  • B179 Fernpassstraße: Between Wengle and Bichlbach closed until July 18, 2021 8:11 am, due to clearing work after Vermurung, the B 179 is closed to all traffic at km 21.0 (Obergarten)
  • B181 Achenseestrasse: Closed between Maurach and Seehoftunnel. Due to mudslides in two places (km 13.0 and 20.0) the B 181 is closed to all traffic
  • B199 Tannheimer Strasse: Closed between the junction to Gaicht and Nesselwängle, closed to all traffic due to mudsliding at km 5.8. Duration approx. 2 hours.
  • Felbertauernstrasse: Closed between Matrei in East Tyrol and the Felbertauern tunnel, total closure due to the risk of mudslides between the toll station and Hinterburg.
