Square Enix has finally presented a new Dragon Quest game long awaited by fans of the license during a particularly intense Nintendo Direct.
Logically, all JRPG fans only have eyes for Final Fantasy 16 in this month of June. Players have been waiting for the next numbered episode of the Square Enix saga for almost 7 years after a FF15 considered disappointing by a good part of the community. Nonetheless, even if Final Fantasy is under the spotlight, the Japanese firm does not forget the lovers of its other flagship license: DragonQuest. While the series has been fairly quiet lately, Square Enix has finally announced the release date of a much-requested game.
A long-awaited episode of Dragon Quest finally presented
There was something for everyone during the Nintendo Direct on June 21. Especially for fans of mario, It’s true. But other Switch owners weren’t left out, including JRPG fans. At the conference, Square Enix finally presented Dragon Quest Monsters: Prince of Shadows, a few weeks after announcing that a new episode of the series was in preparation. The game will be released worldwide on 1er December 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
The public has been waiting for a new episode of Dragon Quest Monstersgiven that the latest dates back to March 2016 and the release of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3. Unfortunately, Western players had not even had the right to discover this title published only in Japan. The arrival of this new opus at the end of the year internationally is therefore excellent news for all fans of the saga who were hoping for this episode of the spin-off series.
What is the story of DQ Monsters The Prince of Shadows?
A little reminder, the series Dragon Quest Monsters is greatly inspired by the mechanics of pokemon. The gameplay also revolves around the recruitment of monsters that can then be sent to the front in turn-based battles. In this new installment, Square Enix promises more than 500 creators to unlock, “including franchise favourites, dark lords and never-before-seen creatures“. Dragon Quest Monsters: Prince of Shadows will follow us the story of Psaro, a cursed demon prince unable to harm monsters. Against his will, he will become a leader and fight alongside them in the world of Nadiria.
In the RPG, the seasons will change as the adventure progresses, changing the areas and monsters available. Thanks to his power of synthesis, Psaro will be able to merge the monsters present in his team. See you on 1er next December on Nintendo Switch to discover the Square Enix title. In addition to this game, remember that a Dragon Quest spin-off is also due out next fall, Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai. These two apps should keep fans busy for many hours before the even more anticipated big chunk: Dragon Quest 12.
