The Diablo license is still evolving and a major update of one of the most popular episodes of the franchise gives good hopes for the future and above all, for Diablo 4. Will the expectations of the players be heard?
The Diablo license has the wind at its back more than ever. Diablo 4 is a huge hit, Blizzard’s most popular game to date, despite recent criticism following the hotly contested Season 1 patch. stem the haemorrhage of players. Either way, Diablo 4 is doing well and players are loving it. And this, even if many of them lack functionalities, in particular a single player mode.

Yes, Diablo 4 is a multiplayer game that embraces this facet of its gameplay more than any other episode for that matter. We can even say without flinching that the game sometimes borders on the MMORPG, with its wide open spaces where it is possible to meet many players here and there. Multiplayer has always been part of the Diablo experience, but not everyone is keen on the idea of trudging through a shared universe with others. Yes, some warriors, wizards, and druids prefer solitary adventure. Only here, for the moment, it is not on the agenda, but an update of Diablo 3, the previous episode, could perhaps give hope.
A third episode patch sells dreams to Diablo 4 players
Since yes, after almost 10 years of existence, Diablo 3 continues to update itself and Blizzard has finally listened to its community. Better late than never.
For its new season, the twenty-ninth all the same, Diablo 3 has updated with a ton of fixes, as usual. But among the host of bug fixes and other tweaks, Solo Self Found mode. It is neither more nor less than a mode allowing you to play the campaign and adventures all alone, like a grown-up.
All multiplayer features are disabled, and you play as a lone wolf. Blizzard has even implemented a new dedicated leaderboard, and there will be special tracking in the future. In any case, many players are very happy with this news, some even intend to dive back into the adventure and start dreaming of a similar mode for Diablo 4.
Hope for a single player mode in Diablo 4?
This is therefore a great thing for Diablo 3 players, but also (perhaps) for Diablo 4 players who are also crossing their fingers to be able to play solo. Some even hope to one day have the possibility of playing completely offline, but that is yet another debate. A true single-player mode is still missing from Blizzard’s game, and at the moment nothing is planned although, of course, the developers are keeping a close eye on player expectations.
And if the Diablo 3 update meets the expected success, the developers may well note that in the back of their minds. But the work here would be much more important than on a title like the third episode insofar as Diablo 4 multiplies the multiplayer functionalities, in particular the world bosses or the wild PvP. For now, the priority is given to improving the overall experience and stabilizing the game. There is still a lot to do on this side, hoping that season 2 will come out better than the first one.
