Acer France spilled the beans by unveiling the new Swift Edge a little early. This 16-inch laptop relies on its finesse and large OLED screen to appeal to an audience of mobile professionals.
It comes in direct competition with the LG Gram 16 in the field of laptops with large diagonals designed for mobility. With 12.95 mm thick and only 1.17 kg on the scale, the new Acer Swift Edge is aimed primarily at professional users who need a machine that is easy to transport for all their travels. In addition to its size, the device relies on the AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 processor range (Zen 3+ architecture and 6 nm engraving), compatible with Microsoft Pluto, a secure chip for Windows 11 which we had already mentioned.
The lightest 16-inch computer in the world according to Acer, the Swift Edge can also count on the sex appeal of OLED technology to seduce. The PC has a large OLED Ultra HD + panel (3840 x 2400 pixels) fully covering the DCI-P3 color space and rising to a maximum luminance of 500 nits.
An ultra thin and solid chassis?
Still, with less than 13 mm thick on a 16-inch laptop, the question of chassis strength comes into play. If only a proper test will allow us to know what is going on with this new Swift Edge, Acer explains that it used a magnesium-aluminum alloy supposed to offer good “robustness over time“.

On the connectivity side, and despite its finesse, the Swift Edge can count on a good variety of ports. There will be an HDMI 2.1 output, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports (with fast charging capabilities, Acer provides), two USB-A ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The essential is therefore there to work without the need to lug around one or more adapters.
The Acer Swift Edge will arrive in Europe in November, at a starting price of 1299 euros.
