While making the film An Unexpected Destiny on France 2, Sonia Rolland has just revealed the broadcast date of her event feature film. Here’s what we know about this fiction so far!
The former Miss France 2000, Sonia Rolland, has come a long way since her election. If the French public discovered the woman who had been Miss Burgundy 1999 on December 11 of the same year through the Miss France competition, she has since broken through into the world of comedy. After numerous roles, whether on television or in the cinema, the beauty queen of Rwandan origin tried her hand at directing in 2014 with a very first documentary broadcast on France O, Rwanda, from chaos to miracle.
Three other projects later including a short film entitled An ordinary lifeSonia Rolland directs her first feature film inspired by her own story entitled An unexpected destiny. A fiction which tells how the life of a young woman can change overnight thanks to the Miss France competition, she explains: “The life of Nadia (main character of the film), a basketball player who will become Miss France somewhat by chance, is indeed inspired by mine. But I mixed in lots of other stories. It’s a realistic fiction, a film that tells how a girl’s destiny can change in a second.”

Sonia Rolland announced through an Instagram post that the feature film will be broadcast on Wednesday January 3, 2024 on France 2 at 9:10 p.m., in less than a week! But which actress did she choose to take on her own features? Not yet known to the general public, it is the actress Esther Rollande, 23, who will take over the role of the former beauty queen. A young actress that Sonia Rolland had described as “a hard worker and above all intuitive” who had the pleasure of immersing herself in the role of the one who was the first mixed-race Miss France in the history of the competition.
