Anaïs Grangerac (“The 100 greatest”): her career, TF1, Christophe Beaugrand, her companion… she confides

She is presented as the new recruit of TF1. However, Anaïs Grangerac started on the front page a long time ago, first behind the camera, on the production side. In 2013, she made her first appearance in the channel's flagship tele-hook, The Voice. Responsible for opening the doors of the boxes to talents before they enter the stage, she gives herself a little buzz: on the Web, Internet users are trying to discover her identity with the hashtag #LaMeufDeLaPorte. An anecdote that still makes her smile today. After a prestigious career (Hypokhâgne, Khâgnes, CELSA), the 32 year old young woman arrives in the world of television and is slowly making a place for herself. First behind the camera and then in front, on TF1 and W9. Once again on the front page, she will co-host her first major bonus on July 25 at 9:05 p.m., with host Christophe Beaugrand in “The 100 biggest hazards of live.” On the program: the return of the cult show with giggles, blunders and slips of all kinds and guests such as Christine Bravo – who, exceptionally, has returned to a set to please her friend Christophe Beaugrand – Virginie Hocq or Florent Peyre. Before jumping into the deep end, the young host powered by TF1 gave an interview to Current wife. Her career, her professional and personal life, her aspirations, her dreams, her companion… Anaïs Grangerac introduces herself to those who do not yet know her …

CURRENT WOMAN: Anaïs, introduce yourself in a few words …
Anaïs Grangerac:
I am 32 years old, I was born on April 25, 1988. I grew up in the Paris region, in the Yvelines, where my mother still lives. My parents have been separated since I was very young and I have a little sister who is three years younger than me called Mélissa. I am married, very happy, athletic but also a great foodie… I love life and I am spontaneous, I think it shows. Anyway, I hope it will show. I am very happy to find Christophe (Beaugrand) for the show of 100 Bigger. This is the first big bounty I'm going to co-host and I'm so glad it's with him. Christophe is the first animator I have really worked with. He is extremely benevolent, very happy, too.

What was your course ?
A.G.:
I studied literary studies before turning to communication at CELSA. I then did my end-of-studies internship at TF1. I knew I wanted to work in the television world. I did a lot of casting, journalism, coordination on the channel's programs, I worked on Masterchef, Baby boom, The Voice… It’s on The Voice that it all started. At the time, I was just a silent extra but got a little buzz with the hashtag #LaMeufDeLaPorte. I was spotted by W9, where I spent two and a half years, and then naturally came back home (laughs). I was then able to work on Big Bounce, with Christophe Beaugrand and Laurence Boccolini, then on several other programs, such asEuromillions. Today, we are building a partnership with TF1 and it is taking on another dimension. It’s the start of a great adventure for me.

We discovered you in The Voice, where you worked more behind the scenes … How did you get to the other side of the camera?
A.G.:
It happened a bit gradually, it's a succession of opportunities. The Voice, it was a first step, but it was on W9 that my animation work really started. I hosted a music show for two years on this channel (Talents W9, Editor's note), then I did some little bonus co-animations with Jérôme Anthony before coming back to the front page. I learned on the job. I am very comfortable in front of the camera, I love the human and people in general. I like to meet people. The goal is not to skip every step. I want to last. We have, I believe, this common desire with TF1, so it was done very slowly, in a good sense. I have always made a bet to listen to me. When I don't feel something, I don't. I trust myself. I have never turned down proposals at TF1 because we took the time to get used to it. They know what drives me and what suits me.

Was a TV career your dream or did it happen by chance?
A.G.:
I can't say I didn't like it. I wanted to work in the world of television, but I hadn't necessarily considered stepping in front of the camera. When I started in TV, I was initially responsible for casting. In The Voice, I never told myself that I absolutely wanted to go in front of the camera! But when I found myself there and realized that I was able to be myself, I was like “Great!” I already had a job that fascinated me, one that made me never feel like I was working. Let's say that the animation was not at all an ambition, rather a revelation

And as a viewer, who is your favorite host?
A.G.:
It has always been Nikos Aliagas! I watched it from the star Academy. One day, for a little video broadcast on MyTF1, I showed Nikos’s lodge and I had the opportunity to meet him. It was great because I find him very classy and brilliant. It is exactly the same in real life. He’s someone I admire. Moreover, at the time of The Voice, he had had lovely words for me and wished me "good luck" in the trade. It's funny now to see him in the hallways (laughs)!

What relationship do you have with Christophe Beaugrand, with whom you will host “Les 100 plus grands”?
A.G.:
We send each other a few messages from time to time. Nothing very regular but each time, we are very happy to see each other. He is a deeply kind person, he is really attentive and very caring. I couldn't have been better for a debut duo because they're someone I appreciate in real life. I hope it will be felt.

The show will broadcast the biggest laughs, slip-ups and accidents live. And you, what is your best memory from television?
A.G.:
It’s very difficult to answer that question (laughs)! There are several of them. First Big Bounce, because it was my first show as a co-host on TF1. It was a great experience to have. In addition, this program suited me perfectly because I am very athletic. Then as a guest I would say Fort Boyard, which was a very nice experience. But every show, even Married within the year, gave me something different. I also always love those moments before the countdown … As for my best memory as a viewer, I would say the star Academy. I loved this show, I never missed a single bonus! I still remember Houcine, Georges-Alain… It was incredible, this fervor. Waiting for the program, watching it with friends … It was a real date, a great mass. If we hadn't looked, the next day we were in the West.

Have you ever suffered from sexist remarks in the TV world?
A.G.:
No. There must have been things that happened that I didn't see. For my part, I have not suffered anything frontal. At the moment, I am fortunate to have a lot of goodwill around me. I try to take a step back from it all, luckily I haven't had a bad experience.

What about racist remarks, about your hair for example?
A.G.:
No, luckily for me too. I take a huge step back from Twitter. I have been there for years and use this social network very little. The funny thing is, I follow Instagram a lot and, when it comes to my hair, I only get kind comments from young mixed-race women who have mass and don't necessarily know how to tame it. So they ask me for little tips for everyday life. And I understand them! Because it wasn’t always easy for me too, especially during my teenage years. But it's part of my trademark as a host at TF1 and on social media, it's more my strength. Either way, I hope we are all working and learning on these issues. And then, anyway, a review on the physical, it's not very constructive.

On television, you sometimes have to pay attention to your image… Does that weigh on you?
A.G.:
I think I'm in everyday life like I'm on TV. As an athlete and Instagram user, it's common for me to film myself sweaty and without makeup. I stay myself. This is not something forced, there are not two different Anais. On television, I pay a minimum of attention to present well… but no more than for a meeting with my mother-in-law (laughs)! I will not change. I think the public needs more authenticity.

Besides television, what are your passions and your favorite hobbies?
A.G.:
I do a lot of sports, especially Crossfit, and I love to cook. I mix sport and comfort, even if there is no punishment. I am fortunate to have enough free time, so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and at the gym. I would say those are my two passions with animals … But I don't have any myself! When I was little I wanted to be a vet. I have always given to the SPA, to associations. I have not yet taken a public position in these areas, but I am fortunate to be involved in a project aimed at young people aged 14 to 22 (The Motor Project, editor's note.) for which each participant had to make a video about a person who inspired him. Young people are very much criticized, yet there are a lot of very intelligent young people, aware of everything that is going on in the world … We were able to elect laureates who can benefit from an experience with TF1 later. This resonates with me because personal development is part of my life.

What do your parents think about your success?
A.G.:
They are obviously very proud. My mom, who records all the shows I go on, warns all the neighbors as if everyone is interested (laughs)! The good thing is that my family has no connection to television. They are proud but don’t make a big deal out of it. My sister, Mélissa, has taken a whole different path, but she is obviously delighted with everything that happens to me.

You animated Married within the year… and you are married in 2018! Has marriage made a difference for you?
A.G.:
No. I wouldn't even say it made us stronger as we've been together for a very long time! For my husband and I, it was mostly a time to have a party and celebrate our love. It didn't change much.

What does living with a coach mean on a daily basis?
A.G.:
We met in a gym, it has to be useful (laughs)! We play sports together but I avoid taking homework for him. Over the past year, he's been back to personal development, so sport has become secondary. In fact, we talk a lot about personal development. It animates our lives.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A.G.:
I hope to still be a facilitator, as long as I still enjoy it. I see myself at TF1 with lots of projects, shows … Always with the same daily life, doing this job that fascinates me. I don't close any doors, so it's hard to project myself. All I know is I see myself happy.
