These parties are the most frequently absent from the Bundestag

If there is a roll-call vote in the Bundestag, the elected parliamentarians must take part. A data analysis shows, however, that some MPs are notable for their absence in the current legislature. Two parties in particular stand out.
Members of the Left and the AfD are particularly often absent from roll-call votes in the Bundestag. This emerges from a data analysis by “Spiegel”. According to its own statements, the magazine evaluated the current legislative period. Accordingly, members of the left-wing faction were missing in almost every fifth of the 76 votes examined so far, AfD parliamentarians on average in more than every seventh.
According to the report, MPs from the SPD, FDP and Greens are more conscientious. Their representatives were absent on average in every eleventh vote, in the Union faction there were absentees in every tenth. In principle, attendance is compulsory on meeting days, and members of parliament must participate in roll-call votes.

The AfD attributes an “above-average number” of their absent days to illnesses. If MPs stay away for an understandable reason, that’s “okay”, otherwise not, said Jan Korte, parliamentary manager of the left. “And of course we’ll talk about that.”
The most absent from the left was Sevim Dağdelen, who missed 45 of the 76 appointments. “When Ms. Dağdelen did not take part in meetings and roll-call votes in the German Bundestag, this was well justified,” says her office.
Altogether sit in the 20th German Bundestag 736 MPs. Of these, 206 belong to the SPD, 197 to the CDU/CSU, 118 to Alliance 90/The Greens, 92 to the FDP, 78 to the AfD and 39 to the Left Party. 6 parliamentarians are non-attached.
