Anastasiia Lenna, ex-Miss Ukraine, takes up arms to defend her country

While since the night of February 23 to 24 Ukraine has suffered violent attacks from Russia, Anastasiia Lenna, a former Miss Ukraine, swears in an Instagram story that “all those who cross the Ukrainian border with the intention of invading the country will be killed”.

Anastasiia Lenna, who also calls on her people to “take down road signs on all the roads in the country” to destabilize Vladimir Putin’s troops, has swapped dresses for a camouflage uniform.

On her last Instagram posts stamped with the hashtag #StandWithUkraine, the young woman, who has notably been responsible for public relations in Turkey and a translator (she speaks five languages), published a series of photos in which she appears with a machine gun slung over her shoulder .

The beauty queen, who describes her president Volodymyr Zelensky as a “strong and true” leader, has taken to social media to call for international support and donations for the Ukrainian armed forces, but also conveys anti-war messages.

“Due to the current situation, I want to talk! I am not a soldier, just a woman, just a normal human, she wrote this Monday, January 28, still on Instagram. Just one person, like all people in my country. I have also been an airsoft player for years. You can go to Google to see what #airsoft means. All my profile pictures are here to inspire people. I had a normal life until Wednesday, like millions of people. I am not doing any propaganda except showing that our Ukrainian woman is strong, confident and powerful. I appreciate all the attention and support to my country, to all Ukrainians, we fight against Russian aggression every day. We want to win! I was born and live in Kiev. It’s my city. Ukraine is my country. On February 24, the Russian Federation landed on our lands and began killing civilians, women, children. Ukrainians are not guilty. None of us have guilt. We are on our land! I speak to all the peoples of the world! No one should die! We can stop all of this together. Share information about the situation. Ask @nato to close the sky! Help us, the Ukrainian people, to stop the Russian aggression”.

The young woman has thus joined the hundreds of Ukrainian civilians who have decided to mobilize to repel the Russian enemy, like Vitali Klitschko (ex-world heavyweight boxing champion who became mayor of Kiev in 2014) and his brother Wladimir Klitschko (also a former world heavyweight champion).
