Once is not custom, a fan of DOOM splits with a wacky idea, therefore essential, to take advantage of the venerable FPS.

After DOOM in a Christmas decoration, why not complete the gift package with DOOM on a holographic tree? In any case, this is what Sean Hadgins offers us.

A futuristic Christmas tree

Sean Hadgins, a kind of crazy inventor of his state, made himself known in particular with a Christmas decoration in the form of a 3D printer, capable of printing other decorations, or even a snow globe producing its own snow.

For his Christmas 2022 invention, the man decided to make his own holographic tree. Or what is more like a pad equipped with a band of color-changing LEDs, all powered by a motor.

Christmas being over, Sean Hadgins did not put his tree away, and naturally asked himself the following question: “ is it that DOOM turn on it »? And the answer is yes… sort of.

A truly iconic game

The famous fir tree indeed acts as a conical LED screen, capable of displaying just about anything with the right installation. In this case, Sean Hastings connected his creation to a Raspberry Pi and a laptop (remember also that DOOM runs perfectly even on a $4 Raspberry Pi Pico).

Of course, experience is certainly not the best suited to such an exercise. The shape of the fir tree indeed implies a display that is not very ideal to see on the sides of the screen, inevitably finding itself behind the device.

In any case, it is much more readable than DOOM on a Christmas decoration or on a pregnancy test. Most importantly however, once again we have proof that the legendary FPS can truly run on anything.
