"And tomorrow the whole world" was officially eligible for the Foreign Language Oscar. The German candidate has 92 competitors.

Another step for the German Oscar hope "And tomorrow the whole world" has been taken. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has now published a list of all films that are officially eligible to participate in the "International Feature Film" category, ie the "best non-English language film". The German contribution by director Julia von Heinz (44) currently has 92 competitors, including films from Lesotho, Sudan and Suriname, which, according to the industry magazine "Deadline", are taking part in the Oscar race for the first time.

When will it be known whether "And tomorrow the whole world" will be nominated?

A vote will now be held between February 1st and 5th which films will be shortlisted. Shortlists shortened accordingly in the different categories will then be announced on February 9th. The official nominations will then be announced after another election on March 15th. The Oscars themselves should then take place on April 25th.

It was recently announced that Netflix had secured the rights for the German Oscar hope. "And tomorrow the whole world" is expected to be shown on the streaming service from April. The film is about the young law student Luisa (Mala Emde, 24), who reacts with horror to the shift to the right in Germany, which has become more and more apparent for several years. She then joins an anti-fascist group, which is becoming increasingly radicalized and does not shy away from violence.
