Andor: But only 3 seasons? “Star Wars” series will be significantly shortened before the start

CASSIAN ANDOR

“Andor”, the prequel series to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, was supposed to last 5 seasons. Now suddenly only 3 seasons are mentioned. What happened?

  • “Andor” will probably start on Disney + in late summer 2022.
  • Disney already has big plans for the new “Star Wars” series, and several seasons are planned.
  • Cinematographer Adriano Goldman is now narrowing down the scope of the “Rogue One” prequel a bit.

The series of events from the “Star Wars” and Marvel universes that run on Disney+ are often short-lived. “Moon Knight” or “WandaVision” are over after just one season, “The Mandalorian” gets at least three seasons due to its great success. With “Loki” alone, a sequel was already announced in the final episode of the first season.

Of course, it is mostly unknown how far behind the scenes is already planned for the future, but large series are expensive and so Disney has to be very sure when a series of this size is directly planned for several seasons.

For “Andor”, a prequel series to the “Star Wars” film “Rogue One”, Disney was already planning a proud 5 seasons before only one episode of the series was shown. That surprised, but also made “Star Wars” fans happy, who now have to curb their anticipation a little. Although season 1 of “Andor” is scheduled to start on Disney+ this year and season 2 to start filming in November, the end of the series is coming sooner than expected.

Adriano Goldman, the cameraman of the first “Andor” season, spoke now on Brazilian TV about his work, announcing that the series will be much shorter in scope.

[Andor] should be 5 seasons but i don’t think that will happen, maybe 3 [Staffeln] be.

Adriano Goldman

Goldman seems a little unsure on this one, but as a man at the source, he’ll have a pretty good picture of the current state of production. Pre-production on Season 3 will probably tell if Andor’s story can be completed, but for Goldman, who has to find a new job as a cinematographer after Andor, the information is that there won’t be five seasons will, of course, be important.

The world of “Star Wars” continues on May 27, 2022 with “Obi-Wan Kenobi” – another miniseries. After that, probably in late summer, “Andor” should land on Disney + and, at least that’s what Disney hopes, will inspire fans. Otherwise even three seasons would be too much.
