A small detail in the last episode ofAndorthe series of Star Wars, challenged the fans: the color of the milk that one of the characters drinks. This is a wink that has already appeared in the movies, and has become a joke over the years.
Andorthe new series Star Wars currently broadcast on Disney +, accumulates nods to the saga and to the films in its episodes. Whether it’s letters at the bottom of the screen, a mysterious blue crystal, or even a reference to the series The Clone Wars hidden in the back of a shop, the accolades follow each other, but do not always look the same
The latest, spotted in episode 5, is a nod to a drink that has become a joke and a meme over the years for fans: it’s… blue milk.

In the scene that interests us, we can see Syril Karn, the ex-investigator in charge of security on Ferrix, being slightly discouraged. After the fiasco of his operation against Cassian, Syril was discharged from the forces of the Empire, and he returned to live with his mother. In this scene, Syril, somewhat depressed by his dismissal, is having breakfast: cereals and that famous blue milk.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen colored milk in the galaxy of Star Wars. In the movies, we can see Luke Skywalker drink it several times, especially in episode I, A New Hopewhere he pours himself a large glass of blue milk, and in episode VIII, The Last Jediwhere he tastes green milk – a sequence that has become a classic.
The appearance of this milk, the first time anecdotal, the second time more noticeable, quite unexpectedly propelled the drink to the rank of meme. These snippets were hijacked countless times, and the ring became such that Lego pulled out a figure of Luke drinking… blue milk.
It is however in the universe Star Wars Very “classic” milk: A fan-made encyclopedia explains that blue milk comes from the banthas, and is a popular drink on outer rim planets, such as Tatooine. The green milk comes from female thalas, a species of animal from the planet Ahch-To. The plot ofAndor does not take place on these planets, but in several places in the galaxy – and Syril drinks his blue milk in Coruscant, the capital, where his mother lives. So it would seem that bantha milk has become a fashionable drink.
