From September 21, the Andor series will be offered to Disney+ users. A godsend for fans of the Star Wars saga who have been rather spoiled by programs devoted to their favorite fiction lately. Zoom behind the scenes of this new mini-series.
After The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and recently Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney+ returns with a new series on the Star Wars saga: Andor, whose arrival on the platform is scheduled for September 21. If you missed the info, the fiction will retrace the story of Cassian Andor, one of the main characters of the film Rogue One: a Star Wars story, released in 2016. To embody this rebellious hero, it is quite naturally the actor Diego Luna, already assigned to the role six years ago, who is back in service. The plot, divided into 12 episodes, will return to the youth of Cassian Andor, before focusing on his early days as an officer in the Rebellion, and then his heroic act of conveying the Death Star’s plans to Princess Leia. Star Wars fans will have understood: chronologically, the story takes place before the events of Rogue One. To bring the story to life, the production moved to the UK. Thus, it is mostly in Pinewood studios, 30km west of London, that the series was shot. But for the needs of certain scenes, the film crews went to the town of Cleveleys, to the disused Winsplit Quarry quarry built on the cliffs, or even to the Cruachan reservoir in Scotland.
Andor: who do we find in the casting?
On the sidelines of Diego Luna, the interpreter of Cassian Andor, the cast will be composed of Alan Tudyk (the droid K-2S0), Fiona Shaw (recently seen in Killing Eve) or even Stellan Skarsgårdthe father of actors Bill and Alexander, seen in big productions like Pirate of the Caribbean or Mamma mia.
