It is now clear: actor Andre Braugher has died of lung cancer. There had previously been talk of a “short, serious illness”.

The early death of a series star Andre Braugher (1962-2023) shocks fans and his colleagues. The cause of death has now been determined. Police confirmed to Variety that the actor died of lung cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease just a few months ago, a spokesman said.

“You left us too soon”

The actor was known for his roles in series such as “Homicide” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” He was only 61 years old. Braugher died on Monday after a short illness, “The Hollywood Reporter” initially reported, citing the actor’s spokeswoman, Jennifer Allen. After his death, many of his colleagues paid tribute to him on social media.

Terry Crews, 55, who starred alongside Braugher in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” wrote: “I can’t believe you’re gone so quickly. It’s an honor to have known you, to have laughed with you “To have worked with you and spent eight glorious years with you, observing your irreplaceable talent.” He added: “You left us too soon.”

He leaves behind three sons

Andre Braugher won an Emmy for his performance on the NBC series “Homicide” and was nominated for an Emmy for the Fox sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” He was married to his fellow actress Ami Brabson since 1991. The two have three sons.
