Pop singer Nicole is back: That’s how she feels after the cancer diagnosis
“I’m fine according to the circumstances,” is how pop singer Nicole, 58, begins on the MDR talk show “Riverboat” when asked by Kim Fisher, 53, about her health. In April of this year, Nicole went public with the news that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2020. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery, battled cancer and won that battle. “I enjoy every day as if it were the last. Because I’m just glad that God gave me a second chance.”
But of course this time of struggle also left its mark. “Corona brought us all down and locked us up. But if you get a diagnosis like that, you’re really doomed to spend a year and four months in isolation. I was practically 16 months in prison. I was closed to the outside world, myself Nobody was allowed to visit because of the risk of infection. Your immune system is at 0. The slightest infection would not have been beneficial for a chemo patient,” says Nicole. In the end she made it and is now cancer-free – and that’s why Nicole’s new album, which was released on October 21st, is also called “I’m back”.
