Outcry against Andrew Lloyd Webber: Some actors allegedly only heard about the end of “Cinderella” through the media.

Criticism of Andrew Lloyd Webber (74). The composer has canceled his musical “Cinderella” in London. Some actors are said to have only found out about this through media reports.

The final performance in the West End is scheduled for June 12 this year. That reports “Deadline”. “Cinderella” just started less than a year ago. Despite the cancellation in London, the musical is scheduled to start completely overhauled on New York’s Broadway next year.

Those responsible conveyed the message to the actors on the Sunday before the afternoon performance. Actors who weren’t there or who were only to take on roles in the fairy tale musical later found out about the end through the media. Summer Stroller (36), who will soon play the role of the queen in “Cinderella”, posted a video on Instagram. In it, the actress says she was “fired via social media.” She learned of the cancellation through an article a friend had sent her. Only her agent got an email from the creators.

“The business is hard enough as it is”

The actress of Cinderella, Carrie Hope Fletcher (29) was outraged. She wasn’t there in person, but she didn’t get a call before the news broke. She wrote that in a now-deleted post on Instagram.

She criticized on Twitter the manner in which the termination was communicated to the team. “I don’t think I can find the right words,” she writes. “And if I had, I would probably be advised not to say it. Kind regards to all who have been affected by today’s news and the way this news was delivered.”

Actor Robert Lindsay attacks Andrew Lloyd Webber directly: “Shocking and unforgivable for a man who has made so much from this uncertain profession to fire those desperate for work via social media. Andrew Lloyd Webber, business is tough as it is.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber denies allegations

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s company Really Useful Group denies the allegations. “Everyone involved with ‘Cinderella’ was contacted by phone, email or in person (some through agents) before the news went public in the evening,” the company said to BBC News With. “Every effort was made to ensure people were informed prior to publication, while also managing how quickly the information would spread on social media once people were informed.”
