The deployment of Android 12 is taking its course with all smartphone manufacturers. Sony goes the second and now offers the update to Xperia 1 II and Xperia Pro-I.
After a first deployment of Android 12 on the Xperia 5 III and Xperia 1 III at the beginning of January, Sony continues its momentum and offers the update to two other models. It is therefore the Xperia 1 II, as well as the recent Xperia Pro-I photophone, which will be able to take advantage of Android 12 from now on. The January security update is indeed coupled with that of Android 12 for both devices. The rollout is currently starting with users living in the United States.
Android 12 is coming to two new Xperia models
The update is therefore offered to owners of the Xperia 1 II, on the single-SIM model, and on the dual-SIM model for the Pro-I. This is software version 58.2.A.0.899 for the first, and version 58.2.A.0.899 for the second. As a reminder, the Sony Xperia use an interface similar to Android Stock.
Users of one of these two models should therefore receive a notification offering the update in the coming days, although it is unclear when the rollout will be launched in Europe.
