Android 13 is here, but the distribution of Android 12L is still in full swing. The special update is aimed primarily at foldables and tablets. We will introduce you to the innovations and also tell you which devices will receive the update.

What’s new in Android 12L

In the following we present the planned innovations in more detail.

Optimized for large screens

Android 12L is optimized for large phone and tablet displays. Apps and the user interface take up space and are easier to use. For example, the notification bar and quick settings appear in two columns.

Improved multitasking

The increased space on the screen should make multitasking easier with a new taskbar. If an application is already open, you should be able to easily launch another app. You can also use a program in split-screen mode.

When will Android 12L be released?

Google has already released Android 12L. Pixel phones will get the update right away, while the update is expected to appear later this year for devices from Microsoft, Samsung, and Lenovo.

Which devices will get Android 12L?

Android 12L is primarily aimed at foldables and tablets. “Normal” mobile phones will probably not be considered with the update.

Lenovo

Google has already announced that there will be a preview version of the P12 Pro from Lenovo. You can therefore expect an update here as well.

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra have so far received the update to Android 12L, and the Fold 4 has already been delivered with the new Google OS. According to rumors, the following Samsung devices could also receive the update:

Google

Google has released Android 12L for all Pixel phones starting with the Pixel 3. In the meantime, however, all models from the Pixel 4 have already received an update to Android 13.
