Android 13 is fast approaching our smartphones, as evidenced by the launch of a second beta open to the public.
Shortly after the availability of beta 1, Android 13 offers a beta 2 on the occasion of Google I / O, during which the Mountain View company presented the new features introduced by this version.
The interface is refined
As expected, the update brings new interface customization options. The Monet theme, which automatically adapts to the chosen wallpaper, is enriched with filters allowing you to play with color, saturation and contrast, among other things.
In addition, third-party applications can finally take advantage of this dynamic theme and the customization possibilities for application icons (even third-party) are multiplying, which evolve according to the selected theme.
Still relative to the UI, the media player has a new look: the progress bar waves for the part that has already been listened to and the cover of the albums appears in the background.
Google privacy and services
Google does not forget about privacy options. Applications will now have to request permission to send notifications. They will also have to request authorization to access each type of media (photo, video, audio) independently, whereas until now there was only one authorization covering the three media. Fewer apps will also access location. In addition, the clipboard history is deleted automatically on a regular basis.
A function allowing you to choose a language for each application individually has been integrated, and several Google services have benefited from some interesting additions: end-to-end encryption of group conversations with Messages via RCS, Google Wallet which allows you to save documents identity (in the United States for now)…
Finally, Android 13 opens up quick pairing to more models of audio headphones and earphones. Source switching will also be better managed, as Bluetooth LE support and spatial audio are on the way.
