  • Android 13 is set to get an iOS feature.
  • You may soon be able to adjust the brightness of the camera LED when using it as a flashlight.

Google is still keeping a low profile when it comes to Android 13 innovations. So far there is hardly any official information about the operating system. However, a way to adjust the brightness of the LED photo light has now been discovered in the code of the current Developer Preview.

As the well-known leaker Mishaal Rahman reports in the Esper blog, Android 13 should offer two new methods for brightness control in the code. You could use this to influence the brightness in the flashlight app, for example.

However, the smartphone must have a “Hardware Abstraction Layer”. This interface allows the operating system to control the hardware. This feature may therefore remain exclusive to Google’s Pixel phones.
